John has served for over 24 years on church boards as a deacon and elder, on regional and denominational boards, on two pastoral search teams, on numerous committees, and teaching roles. He is the author of The Pastoral Search Journey (The Alban Institute, 2nd edition 2010) and has several other church books in progress, including a book on leadership principles for pastors and church board members. He has a heart for church leadership and identifies as a servant leader.
